WEEK 4: Journey to the Unknown

DAY 20  21 August 2023 Hello, readers! After a medical checkup, I'm thrilled to share that my persistent cough is not TB, bringing a huge sense of relief. I was worried about my health, so I'm grateful for this positive outcome. Thank you, Alhamdulillah! Now, back to Monday, and the Monday blues are making their presence felt. I walked into the school a little nervously, anxious about starting my teaching journey. Today marked the first time I'd met my students, particularly 4 Beta, a class I hadn't entered before. Since we hadn't received our permits yet, I entered the class alongside Miss Li, who kindly introduced me to the whole class. I could feel all eyes on me, but thankfully, I managed to introduce myself without any awkward mishaps. I didn't jump into my own lesson just yet; instead, Miss Li instructed me to continue the lesson she had prepared for the students. I led a discussion on the grammar aspects of the chapter as it was coming to a close. Aft...

WEEK 3: Under the Weather

DAY 11 14 August 2023 My recent health concerns took a surprising turn when I visited the doctor yesterday. With worsening symptoms, I underwent a blood test to uncover the root of the issue. To my surprise, the results led to suspicion of tuberculosis (TB). As a precaution, my doctor prescribed a week of medication and advised a day of rest. The hope is that this treatment will yield positive results, but there's a chance I may need a TB screening if my health doesn't improve. Let's just hope for a swift recovery! the blood test result DAY 12 15 August 2023 Good morning to all! Despite still feeling under the weather, I embarked on my day with optimism. Relief classes were on the agenda, but it was a slightly different day. I stepped into 5 Beta, only to discover that most of the students were busy preparing for the upcoming opening ceremony. With only nine students present, I introduced a delightful game, "Action Bingo." This twist on the classic game required ...

DAY 6  7 August 2023 Hello, everyone! The second week of my practicum journey has kicked off, and it's shaping up to be an intriguing adventure. Last week was fantastic, and I can't wait to see what unfolds next. I started my day earlier than usual, a tad restless due to a bothersome sore throat. But not to worry; I've got some trusty medicine to nurse me back to health. The first thing on my agenda was a COVID test, and the good news is that it came back negative. However, since my throat was acting up, I decided to take precautions and don a mask. Our day commenced with the weekly assembly, and then it was off to the canteen for breakfast. Let me tell you, the food there is simply delightful. As a self-proclaimed foodie, I'm already a fan. The flavors and variety made for a pleasant morning treat. The main task for the day was invigilating the exams, as it's only the second week of examinations. During my free time in the teacher's room, I engaged ...

WEEK 1: The Beginning of a Start

DAY 1  31 July 2023 Today, July 31, 2023, I was all set to embark on my very first day as a practicum teacher. Anticipation had been building up for this day, but we hadn't received any official word from JPNWPKL about our starting date. Yet, as my lecturers advised, the key was to stay prepared. So, mentally and physically, I prepared myself to dive headfirst into the world of teaching. Determined to be equipped for the journey ahead, I ventured out with friends to gather the necessary supplies for a teacher, and, of course, I couldn't resist stocking up on a mountain of candy for future student rewards—and when I say a lot, believe me, it's an understatement! 😉 I was genuinely thrilled to meet my students and make a positive impact. LATEST UPDATE! Then, as the evening approached, a sudden announcement from Miss Nabira sent a jolt of surprise and excitement through me—we would begin our practicum tomorrow! It felt like a whirlwind of emotions—a mix of nerves and elation t...
