WEEK 10: A Journey to Remember

DAY 46

2 October 2023

In my tenth week at SMKDL, it was a day of anticipation and excitement as the closing ceremony for Academic Month finally arrived. The stage was set, and it was showtime! The choral speaking team was up first, and their performance was nothing short of exceptional. It was heartwarming to witness my students giving it their all and shining brightly on the stage.

As for me, I had a surprise up my sleeve. I was set to perform with the band, a moment filled with both excitement and nervousness. The other teachers had no idea about my performance, so I had no idea how they might react. To my relief, everything went off smoothly, and the surprise and enthusiasm from the audience were truly heartening.

 

The post-performance feedback was equally gratifying. Colleagues and teachers congratulated me for orchestrating such an amazing set of performances. It was a day filled with surprises and proud moments, and it was a refreshing feeling to enter the classroom with a big smile on my face. Here's to more memorable moments ahead! 😄

DAY 47

3 October 2023

With several relief periods on my hands today, I decided to treat my students to a special experience. We ventured to the cyber lab for a movie session, creating an exciting break from the usual routine. As the movie played, I added an engaging twist to the activity. I asked the students to predict the ending, sparking their imagination and critical thinking. It was a day of both relaxation and mental exercise, offering a unique blend of learning and entertainment. These are the moments that make teaching truly enjoyable and memorable.



DAY 48 and 49

4 and 5 October 2023

As the weeks go by, it seems like the routine is here to stay. With numerous relief periods and classes to manage, it's become a familiar cadence in my daily life. The silver lining is that I'm gradually getting the hang of it, becoming more adept at managing the various responsibilities that come my way. It's a testament to the adaptability and resilience that teaching demands. With each day, I'm learning and growing, finding comfort in the consistency of the routine.

DAY 50

6 October 2023

Can you believe it? Day 50 of my practicum journey has arrived, weekends excluded, of course! Today brought a break from the usual class routine as it was the parent-teacher meet-up day. It was a wonderful opportunity to engage with the parents, discussing their children's progress and well-being. Witnessing the care and concern these parents have for their children was truly heartening.

Post-school, the English department convened for a meeting that extended until 2 p.m. The meeting was an invaluable learning experience, providing insights and knowledge that will undoubtedly benefit my teaching journey. It's these moments of interaction and professional development that add depth and enrichment to my role as an educator. Here's to the next 50 days, filled with more learning and growth!

DAY 26 4 September 2023 The school holiday has ended and happy get back to school everyone! Today's Monday Blues hit different than before after a week of holiday. However, I have prepared all of my lessons during my break so I felt so excited to meet them. My morning starts with the opening ceremony for academic month. I was in charged for the performance during the closing ceremony. I decided to do a choral speaking. Hopefully we can start with the practice as soon as possible. WEEK 8: Sparkling Surprises

DAY 36 18 September 2023 Monday blues hit again as I kicked off Week 8 with the school assembly. Following the assembly, my schedule called for a class with 4 Beta, but a twist of events unfolded. My mentor wanted to review their previous exam answers, so she stepped in to handle the class while I assisted in this session. It was a different yet insightful start to the day. After school, my role shifted to observer mode. I divided my attention between the school band and my choral speaking team, both diligently preparing for their upcoming performances on October 2nd. WEEK 2: Buckle up, Wildcats!

  DAY 6  7 August 2023 Hello, everyone! The second week of my practicum journey has kicked off, and it's shaping up to be an intriguing adventure. Last week was fantastic, and I can't wait to see what unfolds next. I started my day earlier than usual, a tad restless due to a bothersome sore throat. But not to worry; I've got some trusty medicine to nurse me back to health. The first thing on my agenda was a COVID test, and the good news is that it came back negative. However, since my throat was acting up, I decided to take precautions and don a mask. Our day commenced with the weekly assembly, and then it was off to the canteen for breakfast. Let me tell you, the food there is simply delightful. As a self-proclaimed foodie, I'm already a fan. The flavors and variety made for a pleasant morning treat.
