WEEK 11: Embracing the Classroom Carousel
DAY 51
9 October 2023
The week began with the classic case of "Monday Blues" on October 9th. I didn’t go to school as i was having a really bad diarrhea. However, a teacher told me a news. I received unexpected news that would alter my schedule for the week. I was informed that I would be tasked with the role of an invigilator for the UTQH examination in Pendidikan Islam SPM, which was scheduled for both Tuesday and Thursday. This announcement caught me off guard and added a new dimension to my week.
The prospect of becoming an invigilator for a test in the subject of Pendidikan Islam was an entirely new experience for me. During my own high school years, I had never encountered this specific examination. This news brought a mix of curiosity and anticipation as I prepared to oversee the students taking this test. It was a chance to step into a different role within the school environment and gain insights into the examination process that I hadn't experienced before.
DAY 52
10 October 2023
On this eventful day, my primary responsibility was to monitor the students as they took their UTQH examination. This meant I didn't have the usual classroom interaction, as my focus was solely on ensuring the smooth progress of the test. From the morning until the end of the school session, I kept a vigilant eye on the students to maintain a secure and organized examination environment. It was an essential task, and I was committed to ensuring a fair and controlled testing atmosphere for all involved.
After a day of invigilating the exam, the evening brought a shift in mood as we headed out for dinner. The occasion was a special one. It was a celebration in honor of Farhana and Danish, fellow practicum teachers from UPSI, as they neared the end of their time at SMKDL. It was a bittersweet gathering as we marked the departure of our friends and colleagues who had contributed to our school community. The dinner was a chance to express our appreciation and best wishes for their future endeavors, and it added a warm and memorable touch to the day.
In these moments of celebration and farewell, the bonds between us as teachers and friends were strengthened. We shared stories, laughter, and well-wishes, creating a sense of camaraderie that would stay with us even as our paths diverged. The day was a reminder of the diverse experiences and relationships that enrich the world of teaching.
DAY 53
11 October 2023
On October 11th, I was all set to teach a lesson on movie reviews to my Form 4 students. I had prepared the materials and was looking forward to an engaging class. However, when I entered the classroom, I noticed that the students were still engrossed in their ongoing science computer assignment. Their teacher approached me and requested my permission to utilize my class period to help them complete the assignment. It was an unexpected turn of events, and I recognized the importance of cooperation among teachers to support the students' learning needs.
Given the circumstances, I decided to be flexible and understanding. I agreed to let them continue with their science assignment, and I adjusted my lesson plan accordingly. While the movie review lesson had to be postponed, I used the opportunity to give them homework related to the topic, ensuring that they could still engage with the subject matter at their own pace.

DAY 54
12 October 2023
The following day, I resumed my role as an invigilator for the UTQH examination, just as I had done on Tuesday. This was a continuation of the responsibility I had undertaken to ensure a secure and orderly testing environment for the students. The routine remained the same as I kept a watchful eye on the proceedings, providing support and maintaining the integrity of the examination process.
DAY 55
13 October 2023
As the week came to a close, we had something special to look forward to: National Sport Day. The day began with a lively aerobics session, setting the tone for an active and fun-filled day. It was a day when we were all about playing games, and as a practicum teacher, it was a delightful experience. Sharing this day with other practicum teachers made it even more enjoyable, creating a sense of camaraderie and unity among us.
This National Sport Day brought a series of new experiences for me. It was the first time I had ever played dodgeball, and it was an absolute blast. Additionally, we engaged in traditional games like "Tuju Tin," which added a cultural touch to the festivities. These games not only brought joy but also a sense of nostalgia and appreciation for our cultural heritage.
