WEEK 13: A Week of Adaptation and Growth

DAY 61

23 October 2023

On October 23rd, I had an observation with my mentor. However, a twist of fate came our way as everyone received the new timetable. That meant I had to change my observation day from Tuesday to Monday. It was a sudden shift, but as they say, "Change is the only constant." I rolled with it and prepared to showcase my teaching skills on a new day.

I had something special in store for my students during this observation. I introduced them to a classic favorite, the floor game, Jumanji. Their eyes lit up with excitement, and they absolutely loved it. It was heartwarming to see them engrossed in the game, learning and having fun simultaneously.

After the school session ended, my focus shifted to training my choral speaking team for the upcoming Majlis Anugerah Kecemerlangan Akademik on Saturday, October 28th. It had been a while since we'd practiced together, and we were all a bit nervous about the event. Would we be ready in time? The uncertainty hung in the air, but our determination was unwavering.

We rehearsed tirelessly, refining our performance to perfection. The dedication and enthusiasm of my students were truly inspiring. We knew we had a challenge ahead of us, but we were ready to face it head-on.

DAY 62

24 October 2023

Due to an event for Form 3 and Form 4 students, my class with the 3 Kosmik was cancelled today. Not much was going on in the classroom that day, and it was silent.

I had a task after school to find the right hijab for my choral speaking team. We decided to go with a maroon hijab, so I had great expectations going into Berjaya Times Square, but after looking all day, I was unable to locate one that would work. I was determined to find the perfect hijab for our impending performance, so I kept searching.

Thus, even if my day in the classroom was unremarkable, the hijab hunt proved to be an exciting experience on its own. I'll resume my hunt for the perfect hijab tomorrow with hope and the conviction that it exists.

DAY 63 and 64

25 and 26 October 2023

Wednesday and Thursday were quite unique in my teaching journey, as I had no classes on these two days. Instead, I was in charge of preparing for the upcoming performances on Saturday. It was a whirlwind of activity as I dove into rehearsals and all the necessary preparations. The heart of my focus was on the rehearsals, and I spent these days at Laman Bestari with my students, working tirelessly to ensure they were well-prepared. It was an intensive period, but I was determined to make sure they gave their best on the big day.

The cherry on top of these two days was the moment I had been waiting for. I finally found a suitable hijab and ribbon for my students to wear during the event. It was a moment of relief and triumph, knowing that everything was falling into place even though we had to change the colour since the theme for the day is purple.

With the rehearsals in full swing and the perfect accessories for my students secured, I was ready to tackle the challenges and excitement of the upcoming Saturday performance. These two days off from regular classes were instrumental in ensuring our readiness, and I couldn't be prouder of the dedication and hard work of my students and myself.

DAY 65

27 October 2023

Friday, October 27th, marked the final day of preparation for our upcoming event. With just one day left, I dedicated my time to a special task: crafting ribbons as bow ties for the students to wear during the event. It was a hands-on effort to ensure that every detail was perfect and that our students looked their best.

As I tied the ribbons and adjusted the bow ties, there was a sense of satisfaction and excitement in the air. All the hard work, the rehearsals, and the quest for suitable accessories led us to this moment. We were ready, and the anticipation for the event was palpable.

With everything in place, we were eager and hopeful for the event tomorrow. As a team, we had put our hearts and souls into this, and the ribbon bow ties were the finishing touch that added a special charm to our students' attire. It was a moment of unity and anticipation, and we could hardly wait to showcase our efforts. Wish us luck for tomorrow!

EXTRA DAY: 28 October 2023

Majlis Anugerah Kecemerlangan Akademik

Saturdays are typically for relaxation, but today is a special one. I was an extra workday filled with anticipation. It's performance day, and I couldn't be prouder of my students. Their remarkable achievements mark an incredible journey, and the memory is one I'll cherish forever.

The day started with nervous excitement. After weeks of practice, it was time for the students to showcase their hard work and talents. As the performances unfolded, my heart swelled with pride. It wasn't just about their flawless execution or the applause from the audience. It was witnessing their growth in confidence, teamwork, and creativity. It's a testament to their dedication and our incredible journey together.

Today's memory will stay with me always. It's a memory filled with the bright smiles of my students and the feeling of accomplishment. It reminds me why I became a teacher. These moments inspire us to keep nurturing young minds, celebrating their achievements, and cherishing the incredible journey of education.
